- A denotation of the characters in the poster show it is a superhero film as they are brightly coloured in there uniforms in contrast to the background of the burning and destroyed city which is very dark and dull. This also highlights the characters to show they have an important role in the film and the film plot heavily involves all the characters shown.
- A denotation of the poster is that there is destruction showing there is violence in this film and that there is fighting and showing power is a big development throughout the film. This denotation could be developed and connotations could be that there could be good vs. evil as the destruction shows there is evil trying to destroy and harm the innocent.
- A denotation is that we can see that from certain characters this film is fictional and made of superhuman characters, however a connotation we can develop from this is that it includes humans and is on earth as the city in the background is a city in this world.
- A connotation we can understand is that there is aerial battle that takes place as damage to the tall building in the background and the aircraft's fighting show that the battles and fighting is high up due to the superhuman powers of the characters.
- A connotation we can understand from the film poster is the leader of the group of characters in Iron Man. This is because he is at the front of the group and that he is in the centre of the poster and the first thing that catches your eye when you first look at the film poster.
- A denotation is that from the title of the film is that it stands out and is bold in the centre and that as it is a light colour it contrasts to the film poster to stand out clearly and be clearly seen. This can be developed into a connotation showing the title of the film represents the characters on the film poster as it is coloured brightly contrasting to the dull dark background and represents the characters who are seen boldly as they stand out like the title.
