Legally Blonde
To analyse this task i am using the 4 W's. These are Who, What, Where and Why. I used this as this will analyse the clip in detail and cover what i am analysing which is representation.
The stereotype that is used in this scene and the whole film is the typical dumb blonde girl. In this scenes it shows this by using shots such as the girl brushing her hair showing these stereotypical blonde girls only care about how they look and are labelled as 'Barbie dolls'. Being represented is the typical american teenage girl who is blonde and dumb. The preferred audience will be teenage girls as they are similar to the girls in the film however, the gatekeepers choose to make the stereotype even worse than it actually is, so the audience will realise how much worse the stereotype actually is.
The activities shown that the girl is doing to show the stereotype is activities such as brushing her hair, and working out to show the stereotype that 'blondes' only care what they look like and to attract guys who play American Football at school. In this film they are represented to there stereotype very well and even enhanced a lot to clearly show the stereotype of a teenage 'dumb blonde' .
The purpose that the stereotype serves is that this is to show what teenage girls can be like and how they would only care on there appearance and not education or their future.
As this stereotype is of a teenage 'dumb blonde' the location which is seen in the clip is that they would be at high school due to their age and also places such as shops as they are shopping to make sure they look their best or the gym as they would be working out to also show how much they care about their looks and want to impress guys and be popular and be known by everyone. The location is normal for American teens however it can be enhanced as the girls would not spend their whole lives at for example a shopping centre and shops.
